Good morning,

What was original color of the case of a SIGNAL-STAT 900 SIGFLARE with the last patent date 5/12/1959? Were they the same color all years of production (6v & 12v), especially around 1954? Mine is installed in my 1954 3104 pickup. I painted it "aluminum" about thirteen years ago when I got the truck. My old mind has long since forgotten the original color, possibly weather beaten chrome.

Also, what covered the wires that exit the case and go down the steering column?

This Signal-Stat pic was in a recent post by Pat S:

I know that I could search for and find an original #986937 1954 Chevy self-cancelling directional signal unit that mounts inside steering wheel hub (first year offered), but for now I'll keep the owner add-on Signal-Stat.

Thanks for your help,

- Lonnie

The signal stat I bought 20 years ago is black, and so is the one I bought 5 years ago. That is as far back as my info goes. I used a piece of shrink tubing to hide all the wires as they go down the side of the steering column. I've seen others that used a piece of pipe or conduit painted same color as the column. I have these switches on two cars, and when driving I usually remember to cancel after rounding a corner.
