I have a 6 volt single terminal horn and I don't quite understand the wiring. I assume that the plus Battery connects to the horn terminal and the case is grounded via the connection to the boss on the manifold. Where does the single wire from the horn button connect? when this button is depressed it connects this wire to ground I think? any enlightenment would be appreciated

The wire from the horn button should go to a relay, and ground it. There should be a hot wire to the relay and also one from the relay to the horn.

Inside the horn there is a coil . One side goes to the single terminal and the other side to case ground. When power is applied to the horn terminal, the coil is energized and the contact opens. If I connect the lead from the horn button to the horn terminal, when I press the button the coil should be energized and the contacts should close. Is this how the horn works without a relay? what wrong with this picture. Can't find any wiring diagrams showing this system.

The horn will not work with out a horn relay. Power goes to relay and from relay to horn, horn button goes to relay as horn button is the ground. Relay has three thermals power in power out and ground. Al

The hot wire goes to the horn and the wire from the button is ground.

A single horn did not require a relay. The relay was used with dual horns due to the large amount of current draw.
