Yes, I think the ends ( side mounts ) are the same...Other than yours are chromed steel and mine are stainless...I was thinking about what we're missing, it's basically a short bar with a threaded hole...I'm sure Boardwalk can at least see it. Maybe we can get him to describe it and I'll make us some. I thought yours might look nice painted to match your car...I'll just buff mine out...

Hey Russell...Your rare and desirable Pecket Sky Shield hit EBay this morning...! Item # 321023189504 It's from the same fellow that sold me my last one ( I have two Comet's, now. Geez. ) I asked him if he might know where to obtain more side clamps, he seems to know a lot about these Pecket's...

Anyway, you might want to check-out his "buy it now price" laugh

Easier to go to 47 chevy, and scroll down page one.

Well we are able to see the brackets very well. You should go ahead and pick this one up as well. His has stainless clamps, what you need. Funny, mine are chrome.

The price is about right. I was offered $1000.00 for mine 10 years ago.

Oh, I'm about tapped out as far as visors go...The last one I had to call my Christmas present to me...

Now that I have what I'm really happy with, the other two visors can go to new owners...

(Note: Now, before you 46-48ers read this, and get all upset, may I point out that it is offered by a nut case (me) hood and wholy tongue-in-cheek. Nothing more. Now, if you choose, read on:)

Bill, bowdown

I respectively disagree. Owing to the fact that these here, Fulton's, et al, will fit several year models and not just 1946-48, Kevin's post would better have fit in the Accessories under MrG.

Too, the fact that that is an obscure forum would seem, to me, an appropriate place, given Kevin's post and for anything to do with outside sun-visors. I think you should have taken some corrective action and transferred it over there. Do too! confetti

You did, however, correctly point out, inadvertently, I'm sure, that he targeted the right audience. That's because no self-respecting 41 owner would stick such a God-awful looking contraption on his ride. (emphasis on "self-respecting). rolllaugh

Those 46-48 dudes figure that after Chevrolet added those lovely (snicker) fender caps, they might as well go ahead and screw-up what remained of the decent lines of the car. Mercy! noevil

I appreciate you going out of your way to commend Kevin on what you may, on first blush but without really studying the matter, posting in a proper forum but you screwed up royally on this one, buster. Did too! I know you regret it but can't now change it and save face. Oh, well. greenman

Until now you have done a good job. Don't let this little hick-up in judgement get to you. We are a forgiving flock out here. Are too! beermugs dance

With all due respect (emphasis on due),
Charlie computer

BTW: Warning: Any more praise where it is not warranted may result in a formal reprimand and/or a reduction in pay. So consider yourself on notice, Oh, yes! whip

The original post asked for any comments. That's what I did. Comment that was merely offered in the humorous vein. But, read on so I can set the record straight for my seemingly humorless friends out there.

I think the outside sun-visor is a beautiful, functional (keeps the sun out of your eyes and helps to keep the cabin cooler, and the dash protected from heat and UV0 accessory. They are really "cool." And, the Comet Sky Sun Shield may be the best of the best. (I don't know about this last part.)

I can't imagine that anyone would not find them just lovely and a much sought after accessory. Imagine that.

I never took to them but what do I know about beauty? Obviously, not much. Huh?

How's that?

Nice recovery...Charlie

My opion is stick with a Fulton,I would second guess no attachment to the vehicle(clampped to the rain gutter)...These thing take alot of wind force and could fly off..When I 1st purchased the 48 Aero it came with a 50's something visor which was clampped and not screwed and experienced many problem...

Well...The center clamp I think contributes to a lot of the holding force, plus the way wind slips through between the visor and the roof...You know how if you hold you hand, fingers pointing forwards out the window there's not a whole lot of wind resistance...And the Comet Sky's outer mount does bend under the rain rail...I happen to like how easily it is to mount that way...Unfortunately, it's also easy for someone to steal. Funny how they seem to get more money for them...Maybe it's because there's fewer of them left...They were so easily blown off the car... laugh

Holding one next to the other...I prefer the style of the Comet better, plus this all stainless model there's no paint hassles...

Kevin points well made...
the 1st visor that was on the 48 was actually attached to the roof with screws but the clamps on the rain gutters would tend to come loose and flap in the wind as I was driving.I made many pit stops to reattach before removing the 1st visor for good.I would guess though with good attention payed when installing your Comet Sky side clamps, all will be secure, safe and good looking! How about some camera when its on

With out one you will learn real soon to stop WAY before the traffic lights..Unfortunatly if the light is sensored and it does not detect your vehicle you could be sitting there for a long time

laugh I didn't even think of this aspect...I assumed a light-viewer was to let you know that the light was now green, and it's time to put her in gear and giddy-up without having to bump your nose on the steering wheel to check it's status...

One thing I did notice with the Comet Sky Visor ( this model anyway ) is that it's not nearly as wide as a Fulton...At it's sides anyway...Guess it does jut out in the middle a bit...Sure is stylish...Reason I prefer it over the Fulton...And you know I wasn't really a "fan" of these visors...Up until recently, I was in the purest boat on this matter...No Fulton for me...! Funny how I changed my "view"...!

I just got it via Fedex...Had to sign for it...The Ebay seller said it was in very good condition...I wonder why he didn't just come out and say "It's BRAND SPANKING NEW...! Never has been put on a car...or even assembled...! It's Xmas comes early ...!

Bruce...The visor is 100% Stainless...Not a speck of paint on the entire thing...Wonder if they weren't popular because of that...? ...It is a thing of beauty, though...

Fulton did use a particular shade of green for just that purpose...I'll just wait and see...I think I'd be a little leery of applying anything to this new visor other than some form of protectant or wax...There are some fine scratch's or "box rub" that could be polished out but...I wonder if polishing compound would work...?

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise...! This afternoon I got out the Fulton to compare it to the Comet Sky...And if you look back to the beginning of this thread, you'll see what I mean...Notice that Boardwalk's visor looks considerably thinner...Width wise, that is...The Fulton measure's 14" inches wide at both the sides and the center...Where as this particular model Comet Sky measure's only 9" inches wide at the rain rail, and increases to 10" inches in the center...Makes me wonder if I'll even need a Street-light viewer after all, being 4 to 5 inches narrower...We'll see...I think this is why I thought it was a bit more stylish after all... laugh Boy, is that Fulton is wide, by comparison...
