Are these so called driving lights, that would mount on the bumper?

lilrobo, the HID lights MAY be better than the typical halogens in use nowdays but they put out a scattered blue beam that can blind oncoming drivers. If you use them for low beams be sure the lights are properly aimed so the people coming at you arn't flashing their highbeams at you in frustration. I mention this because the Chevys from '58 and newer had coil springs in the rear that weakened with time letting the rearend sit lower than the front. Hard to tell sometimes but even an inch or so will make your headlight beams come up.

I think that wire is for the signal light.

On my Corvair I went with standard plug-in Halogens, both in high beam and the outer beams, but added relays. Now there is no current drop to them so they are very bright. Since I drive through the mountains at night to my house 15 miles from the city and there are lots of animals and things in the road, I needed good lighting.

That is a very nice looking Corvair.

Excellent job on the wiring harness. Nice and neat.

Two great cars... and a great topic. My sense is that a lot of folks are going to upgrade their lights in the future. I know that adding LED's to the taillights in my '31 made a HUGE improvement. And I feel a LOT SAFER, during daytime and night!!

I have standard plug in halogens in my '57 and they are super bright. Have no relay. The old large single headlights are brighter than any of my modern cars.
