Do I need a reducer for the amp gauge to run on a 12 volt system or can I leave it alone? I bought the correct reducer for the fuel gauge and was wondering if it goes on the batt side or the tank side? Batt side I think.

There is not a problem of running with the original gauge and no modifications are needed.

Welcome aboard.
You'll get some good advice here. Folk like Gene, Chipper, Ray, Brewster, JD, Tiny, MT, Big Richie, DIZ and many others know what they are talking about. You'll soon sort 'em out as to best for certain topics but all are really well versed in old Chevrolet and GMC stuff.
