Hi Guys,

Looks like an outback photo, maybe a farmer and his son?

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Is it my imagination or does the car look like it is setting higher than normal? Maybe mine needs the springs re-arched...grin

The ride height is normal for a 38 without extra chrome bling to weigh in down. You'll also notice the Aussie gent is standing with the aid of a crutch, so he probably wasn't pushing the 38 and why did Holden produce all the cool bodies for Chevrolet not available in the US?

I think the car is equipped with larger tires as standard also the shadow just under the car gives the wrong impression of hight.
idea You have to compare your cars lower fender distance from the center of the wheel then you will know if your car is riding lower or higher as the pictured one. chevy

Ray,
Your '28 is a knockout.
I really like that sloper body style and the way the B pillars slant forward.

I'll bet that this "farmers" car hood don't jump open every time he hits a little bump in the road...Like a certain other persons 1941 coupe does.... Does too.
Not to mention any names just to be "nice"....ED

Almost like they were thinking about a prototype for the 42-48 Fleetline Aerosedans.

Just thought I would point out that he is not standing with a crutch it is actually a tyre pump.

I think you're right about the tire pump. I would sure take alot of pumps to fill those big tires.

Comparing the tire size and rim proportions, I think it has 15" tires on it. It seems there have been several pictures of cars exported to other countries that had 15"s on them.

I have a "38" roadster which is closely related to the coupe. It would be unlikely for it to have 15" rims though it has happened. In any case the ultimate tyre diameter is the same. It appears to have light truck tyres which would be common in the immediate postwar years. You used what you could get. They all sit up like that. Essentially the coupe was not a sporty vehicle. It's main role was as a versatile load carrier for travelling salesmen/commercial travellers. The back seat folded to give a large load carrying area or for somewhere to sleep. I gather that some had no back seat at all. My roadster is a Business Roadster and originally it had no space at all behind the seat so I had a huge boot/trunk. The load area floor was basically house floorboards about an inch thick. At the same time the roads were not good so you ended up with a heavy spring package. I am actually dropping mine an inch and a half in the back as I don't imagine that I will ever carry heavy gear.

They look like the original 16 inch 1937-38 rims to me, The 15 inch rims which were on 1947 (48?) chevs were 4 spoke like the 1939 and later wheel rims.
