I have an original 74 Nova. I noticed the other day there was a plug under the dash that is unpluged. I pluged it in and I could not start the engine. I just checked everything on the car and everything is working normal with these wires unpluged. What could they be for? The wires are Green, Yelloow, and Orange.

The car has a 350 engine, automatic transmission, AC, Power Brakes, and Power Steering.

Should I be concerned? Thanks for your help.

It may be for the seat belts. If I remember correctly that engine will not start unless the seat belts are buckeled up. Try connecting the wires, buckel the belt and see what happens. Be sitting on the seat while doing this.

Mom was looking for a new car in 74 and I think all manufactures had something like that,I remember the salesman saying if after buckling the belts and it still would not start there was a button that needed to be pushed under the hood. When I started working in a upholstery shop in 86 those era of cars were what we was working on the most and all had been disconnected by that time.
