On the factory Chevy 1954 Truck Turn Signal Self-canceling Switch Assembly mounted on the column.(Not the clamp on turn signal unit)

Was there an indicator light-s on the dash or in the instrumentation cluster-s that alerted the driver that the turn signal lever had been engaged?

Was 1954 Truck the first year the Turn Signal Self-canceling Switch Assembly available?

Where the front parking lights below the headlights used as the front turn signals?

Thanks
jorb

The 1954 truck Engineering Manual says "An indicator for the directional signals is located at the bottom of the speedometer dial".
1954 was the first year for the non-clamp on signal switch. The 1950-1953 used the Guide clamp-on style. It was self canceling with the little rubber wheel.
The parking lights are used for the directionals in the front. They are converted to a double socket and 1154 bulbs are used.

Thanks for the info.
Did the double socket require a extra wire back to the signal switch.

Do you know where I can buy 1954,1955 1st series Chevrolet 3105 Panel Truck Engineering Manuals that are year specific?

I do have a 1954 shop manual & 1947-1954 Assembly manual, but they are reprints, and there is not much about the panel trucks.

I am trying to gather all the info I can on the 1954,1955 1st series Chevrolet 3105 Panel Trucks, So I can restore them to factory original condition.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thank You,

jorb

Two wires would then run to the parking lights. One wire would be from the directional switch.
The 1954 truck Engineering Manual is available in reprint from....www.fillingstation.com.....
