And back in the 60's, Chevy had a reverse rotation cam shaft, dist. etc available over the counter for the 396 engine.

The reverse rotation cam was for a 366 truck engine which was a small 396. The reason being it had timing gears rather than a timing chain.

The reverse rotation cam ( gear drive) was shown as part of a high performance brochure (booklet)printed by GMPD. Besides big block items, H.P.parts for the Z28 302 were listed.

Hey bobg1951chevy,
I went out to your gallery, that's a really nice '51 you've got. One of the reasons I'm trying so hard to get this '64 C20 out of my shop is that my son has a '50 Chev Fleetline we're going to restore. He's a senior in HS and needs to do a senior project as part of his requirements for graduation. He's got a project approved to do the drive train installation on this '50.
Do you still have the 235cu in there? I see you've got the 3-speed.

Thanks for the kind word, Ronan. The original engine was a 216, I now have a 1955 235 engine in its place.

Oh thats right, the 216cu was the car version of that motor, the 235 was for trucks. I've got a 261cu I'm hording to put in my '38 Master Deluxe. Let's see...they didn't have reverse rotation water pumps back in those days so I should be safe.
