I had no idea that Richie Cunningham drove a Chevy convertible! I guess I was a little young for the early episodes, and only started watching in the later years when it was all shot in the studios.

I think the big thing about this picture is the "Rear wheel road sanding attachment" and sand supply bin.

Notice the snow!

That's a nice looking blue 50 convertible pictured at the top of the chatter page. I wonder who's it is. Beautiful car. Chevrolet had some great colors that year.

Charlie - Here is more of the same scene from a different angle showing my Belair and Dick Olson's beautiful convertible.

We were on our way to the 45th Anniversary Meet and stopped at Moab. Later that evening a bunch of great guys got me into Grand Junction after abandoning my Belair in the desert.

Well, too late to "edit." But typos drive me crazy. Sorry for any confusion. The corrections are in ITALICS......

Hi Bill,

There were 3 '50s on the Grand Junction trip, including Dick Jones (center).

Another neat picture, Roger! I have a real affinity
for 37 to 54 Chevs. And the early 50's in particular.
Likely due to the cars that were around when I was
coming of age, etc.

I'm not sure I recall just who Dick Jones is. (??) Did
he used to have a 38 coupe?? Was he at Silverdale in
August??

Anyway, nice shot of three 50 Chevs. Thnx....

Bill.

All three of those '50's are beautiful cars...I have a real soft spot for '50 converts! Just to bring the thread back on topic (not that anyone minded the new pics) here's a pic from August of 1972. My parents pulled this out of a farmers field near Smithfalls Ont. Lots of rust and mud!

Mack... Do you know the history of the truck in that photo? Was it a show truck, or used to pull the show vehicles? That sander is a neat idea! Reminds me of the traction spray on the early Camaros...

Oh I see...All sanders should run white wall duelies on the back! That is one good looking rig. Lots of hose on the back as well... I wonder what that's all about?

Those hoses are for the air brakes on the semi-trailer the tractor is usually connected to via the fifth wheel. One hose is service air and the other is trailer brake air. They are connected to the trailer by connectors known in the trade as a "Gladhand connector".

I assumed that... they just look really long. I guess they look shorter on todays trucks because they are coiled? It just seems an odd way to store them on this otherwise nice looking truck!

I have that very same sign on the garage wall next to the vette.
The guy that designed the split-window is Peter Brock, (still vertical!) and an interesting history in car design/racing ... search peter brock or bre or Brock Racing Enterprises

There must have been 2 Peter Brocks as there was 1 over here that won Bathurst 500 (mile) 1000 (klm) 9 times amongst several other auto races. In the early days of his career built his on cars but mostly drove Holden (Aus GM).
He died in a rally crash on the west coast a couple of years ago.

Here's today's picture... A 1952 Deluxe Four door sedan, going for a ride through the Golden Gate to who knows where...This is from the Chevybombs site. I wish we knew the circumstances behind it...

Sure looks like seaweed on the lower lift and suspension that you can see. Would guess that it took a swim and was being recovered.

To me, it looks like the "netting material" one would use to capture whatever they are lifting.

Yep, that definitely looks like netting material used for lifting the vehicle. They use the same stuff for lifting crates and etc. as well.
