you didn`t say what year car.
on my 30 coach. i used a piece 3/16 inch thick leather from a pants belt and just drilled a hole for the speedo cable.
now i don`t get a puddle. just a drop or two over a week times.

its a 31. sorry. did you place the piece of leather on the speedocable, then insert the cable into the driven gear or did you put the leather between the cable and its housing? thanks,mike

Mike,
If you fill the cavity on the end of the cable where it screws into the transmission with felt. If you use 600W oil it will virtually stop all the drips.

yes i put the leather in the speedo cable and screwed it back into the trans.

There is supost to be a felt washer in there and yes use the 600 weight oil.
