hey guys
i want your thoughts on this for my 30 coach.
i have a few extra shifter rods for my trans.
i was thinking of cutting one down a few inches so i can get a shorter throw on my shifts. what your thoughts on this.
my friend said i might have a problem getting the trans in gear and shifting if i do this.
what do you think?????
thanks.

Why are we reinventing the wheel? I find it interesting that people buy an antique car and immediately start modifying everything. The best solution is to just go ahead and buy a new Camaro.

How about adding a foot. Besides making shifting easier, everyone could see that big chrome scull mounted on the end.

I have made modifications back when I didn't know better and regret having done them, but hey, it's your car. Just be prepared for a few snickers down the road and keep one of those correct ones handy.

hey guys
OK OK . i know its wrong. but i got 2 extras rods and i`m tried of hitting the person sitting next to me knees when i shift into third.
please don`t bite my head off for thinking about doing this.
its only an idea i had. i didn`t do it yet.
i`m all about keeping my chevy stock. i can`t tell you how many times people tell me my car would be alot faster and cooler if i put a v8 in it. i just give them a dirty look. NOT WHILE I OWN THIS PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY.

The problem with adding length to the shift lever is that the knob will move even longer distance, like into the dash or into the seat area. If you want to find out if it will work just duct tape a piece of dowel or rod with knob onto the the shaft and see where the knob goes.

Guess I got confused by IMFALCO post. Sorry for the error. As my grandpappy once said "I thought I was in error but I was mistaken."
