Congrats and a big thank you to the Mt Rainier Region re the 37th NW Meet. Great fun! About 90 registrations from OR, WA, CA and BC enjoyed good tours, socializing, food, two hospitality rooms and more. Unfortunately even the good folks from the Mt Rainier Region couldn't do anything about the weather --- which was horrible! But it sure was fun seeing lots of long-time friends like Anthony and Patty Roos, who started this thread. Finally meeting fellow CC'er Roger Orness (Imfalco), who replied to Tony's questions about the meet. Bill Barker's "new" 1966 Coupe looks even better in real life than it does in the picture, here on CC. About 450 miles round trip including the tours and back and forth to the casino.

It was announced that next year's NW Meet to be hosted by the Columbia River Region will be August 12-16, 2009. Meet HQ will be in Vancouver, WA.

Congrats and thanks again to all the good folks from the Mt Rainier Region for another great Northwest Meet!

Bill.

I would also like to thank the Mount Rainier Region volunteers who put together another successful Northwest Meet. The tours were much better than anticipated (by some) and the banquet was great. The weather was disappointing, but I would trade foggy 60s for muggy 90s anytime. Kudos for the people who got their cars looking great in spite of the constant dew fall. Got a short ride in BBs Corvette and was very impressed with the workmanship.

Looking forward to next year and please don't call me Betsy.

Ah, shucks. Yes, it is a beauty. Thanks for the kind words.

But, on to more important topics... there is an Irish Pub in Ocean Shores that you need to visit if you're ever in the area. The secret is that after you receive your "beverage", you ask the bartender if he has any Chevy Duct Tape. And voila!! He'll bring you a brand new roll of grey duct tape with the word "Chevrolet" stenciled across it every inch or so. It's very cool... And... No Charge!!

I suspect that there might be a few rolls available at next year's Portland Swap Meet. I saw someone walk out with a full case of them!!!

Now you know. stressed

Add my congratulations to the Host Club for the NW Meet. First time I have ever seen two courtesy rooms. Worked great. I thought the complete meet was a winner. OK, so we had some fog. Was not a bother until I drove home to the RV park well after dark. Distance was about 3 miles and would be an easy commute in my 4-cylinder car except I could not remove the fog on the windshield as fast as it formed.

The car judging went especially well. Don't remember the numbers, but I think it was about 29 cars of all classes. This was a major increase from last year. I would encourage having your car judged next year as it will be our club(CRRVCCA) that hosts the NW meet.

A bit more free (unscheduled) time was available and I think that is something we will increase next year. Gives you a chance to mingle, meet new people, kick tires, and ect.

We had some new cars for judging. Must have been two or three that had never been judged before.

We are going to have an investigation of the procedures for awarding the door prizes. Third straight year that I did not win anything.

Honestly, I was sad when it was over and seeing everyone going their own way.

Can't wait till next year.

Many thanks to Chevy Kid Jim for posting some 80 photos from the recent NorthWest Meet in Ocean Shores, WA. So much fun to relive the good times at the meet via the photos of the handsome cars. Thanks again....

Thinking about Tim's 37 comment....

It seems like that is going to be the case more and more as time goes by. Seems that more and more guys like to drive their cars to meets and shows, rather than trailer them. Depending on location, that can be several hundred or even 1000 miles, if including round trip. The mods range all the way from 216 to 235, or 235 to 261, or 265/283 to 350 with carburetor or FI. Also suspension mods. As long as the car still looks relatively "stock," I don't have a problem with it. (Altho I understand some do.) Essentially engine and suspension mods, maybe adding A/C, etc. simply make the car more user (and wifey) friendly. All that might not follow the exact mission of VCCA. But sometimes descretion is the better part of valour. Also, sometimes it's what the owner wants. Just my 2 cents....

From afar, it looks like a great time/meet was had by all.

The photos are great, and I believe I see one or two nice look-in 41's in the mix. Is that a great looking car or what ?? {he-he!}

Such a variety of years and styles. Say what was 42bill driving ? And who's good looking Yellow Corvette is that, what a beautiful car.

I'll look forward to seeing and reading all about the meet in G&D one day soon.

How many cars were at the meet ? What was the oldest & newest ?

Enjoy the memories,
Michael41

Bill, don't get me wrong I was just sorta making the comment for fun I like all cars street rods to originals as a matter of fact I am looking for a model A Furd body to street rod as I speak. I love my completly orignal 37 Chevrolet but I want something that I can be creative with and do to it what ever strikes me but it will be a car that has most of the parts missing because i just could not bring my self to destroy a nice original. :)

Tim,

I figured you were just making a comment. I didn't take your comment as "negative." Just sort of a comment.

A lot of folks at the meet seemed to get a kick out of seeing two 37 sedans parked next together in their assigned spaces. One appeared to be all stock/original. The other was modified with V-8, AT, Nova front clip, etc.etc. I thought it was interesting to see them right next to each other. Not all would agree, but both of them looked good to me.

Good luck in your search for a Model A to modify, hop-up, etc....
