I am looking for a picture of how knee action shocks mount on the front axle for 1936 1/2 ton. I have a 1936 GMC and would assume that they are the same.

Thanks

Trucks did not use "knee-action shocks"...The knee-action ( it had built-in shocks) was a name General Motors used for all of their independent front suspensions they used beginning in 1934. The stopped using the name in 1955 when more modern ball joins were being used.
What you want is just refered to as shock absorbers. If GMC followed Chevrolets policy the 1/2 ton trucks could have single acting shocks (resistance one way only) or double acting shocks.
For most years the lower end of the shock link had a bracket that was bolted on with the front spring U bolt.
I will try to find a picture.

I agree with Chevy Nut, 1936 cars had Knee Action or Independent front wheel suspension. I have a 36 1\2 ton and my shocks are Single Action Delco-Lovejoy Shocks. I am in the process of doing a ground up restoration and right now all of the running gear is complete but the body is not installed. If you send me an e-mail I will forward a couple of pictures,
