I have been waiting for someone to make a report on the ALLCAL meet held 28-31 March.

Would really like to know where the 2008 meet will be held and the date.

I don't know if this is the place to present this, but I'll throw it out and see if anyone grabs it.

We need a central clearing house for coordinating all the Regional Meets. Out of the 6 meets I usually attend 4 of them presented conflicts. It is not reasonable to finish a meet on a Sunday morning and be at the next meet on Monday morning after a 1000 mile trip that includes a return home to exchange cars.

Ray, I may be wrong, but isn't that one of the jobs the Regional Coordinator on the National Board does? it would be logicial to me since he is the one issueing insurance certiticates.
I agree that is something that is required since the by-laws may not permit one Regional event interfereing with a National event. I think that job needs to be coordinated (a clearing house) between National, The G&D, the Regions, Tour Directors and the Events Calendar. (IMHO)

Maybe there needs to be a motion in here somewhere.

Good points Mr Mack. I guess what I am looking for is the last level to prevent Regional and National meets from overlap. Usually, when the information is presented to the Regional Director the meet/tour is already locked in. I think what we need is a place and date coordinator that functions early in the season BEFORE dates and locations are cast in concrete.

Ray,
Though I understand your frustration when events conflict, it is a monumental task to coordinate events. It is a topic that has been discussed many times at BOD meetings.

The dates that events are held on depend on the availability of the facilities as well as the people planning it, VCCA events that the planners are aware of, other non-VCCA events, holidays, school schedues and the list goes on. It is the job of the Area Director where the event is held to approve the event dates. They are supposed to pay attention to other VCCA events particularly National Meets/Tours and Regional events in nearby Areas that might conflict or be effected. Apparently not all ADs are doing an effective job.

And you might want to add it to the calendar here on CHAT. Just click on CALENDAR in the Nav Bar across the top of the forum.

Maybe other people that are planning on future events, will check here first for potential conficts. Note: You can post a "potential" date there too!!

Thanks for the information. At the recent "Wood Tour" we were told the next "Wood Tour" would follow your event the next week. This is a good solution for us up North. We can drive down for one meet, take a short break and then attend the other without returning home.

Hey Dan,

Sounds great. Much easier for the Pacific NW folks to get to the All-Cal when it's in the northern part of Cali.

Looking forward to taking some time off and getting down there next May. Be a nice to meet Oscar. Seeing as how the meet will practically be in his backyard.

Bill.

Gentlemen...
Thank you for the interest in the All Cal for 2008. All you folks on the West Coast will be hearing a lot about it as time goes by. I will now attempt to list this event on the Calendar.
