Lee, Sorry, I didn't know Wayne. Lets start with the engine number. HAA = H is any 1950 engine, A is ID for type of engine - which is a passenger car 216 engine. The last A indicates the engine was buit in Flint. A 1949 4000 series 216 engine w

Do you still have this stuff? If so, do you happen to have a generator for my '32 coupe. I have a good working generator but am told it's the wrong one. My voltage regulator mounts vertical and I'm told it should be horizontal. Anyway, if you hav

When did they stop mounting the oil can to the fire wall? I have read that it was in that position from 1916 to 1931. I even saw a holder made of steel wire on the fire wall of a 490/1920 in an open field in Idaho in 2006. Gary Wallace has the can

I just polarized the generator and it seems to be working fine now. If this makes any difference, the headliner in my truck seems to be a two-piece thing with a rib or bow separating the front and back piece. HLS

Well as of now after re-polorizing the generator situation is the same...no output charge. Just called a local parts store and a new regulator is $90 something bucks and I don't know yet what the problem is. I'll try jumping some wires and keep you

Actually it is not an 100% requirement to repolarize the generator. Some times the battery can be removed or generator removed and installed without polarizing. Other times it is necessary. I can't answer why. It is just a good idea to polarize e

OK, the polarity is determined by the direction of the last current through the field coils: http://web.utk.edu/~tprather/FoothillsTractorClub/TechTips/PolarizeGenerator.html That's why you don't have to polarize your generator every time you sto
